SOLD OUT! April 10 "Working With Wire." 6:30-9:30 at my house in Rolling Meadows. I am privileged to have my dear friend, Bonnie Meltzer visit my from Portland, OR and generously offer to share her time and talents with members of our local chapter. She is well-known for her crochet constructions in wire and their uniqueness due to her use of computer components. Workshop participants will make a little crocheted purse out of wire and learn technique that can be used for jewelry, accessories and flat or 3-D works of art. Cost is $25.00.
March 10, 2007- Crochet Buffet, sponsored by the Northern IL Chapter of CGOA, at the library in Rolling Meadows, IL from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM. Come help the chapter celebrate National Crochet Month and feast your eyes on a wonderful array of crochet displays from Irish Crochet to Free Form. Hooray for Crochet! H.S. District 211 Continuing Ed; Fremd High School; Wednesdays from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM starting February 21, 2007. For beginners and those crochetrs whose skills are a little "rusty," this class offers the basics of crochet and much more. Materials and book provided.
Gwen has been teaching crochet since 1981. At first it was just a way to share her love of crochet wherever she could at park districts, libraries and other community venues. As the Crochet Guild of America (CGOA) became established and more active, there were more and more opportunities to continue to share in a more formal way. She is Certified by The National Needlework Association, a Certified Craft Yarn Council Crochet Instructor and has completed the Diploma in Crochet Part I from Design Crochet in England.
She has taught hundreds and hundreds of people to crochet and says, “ it is always a joy to see them progress to the point where they start to “get it,” relax and enjoy. I have seen many people blossom into more confident individuals because of their hobby of crochet.”
"Be on the lookout in retail book stores for this brand new and unique book of crochet essays, Hooked: A Crocheter's Stash of Wit and Wisdom. Kari Cornell is the Editor and it is published by Voyager Press. I taught Kari to crochet at Stitches Midwest and she mentions me in the Introduction! Most exciting is that many of the essays are written by members of CGOA, including mine, "..but is there an "Ebb" Stitch?".
